Hey, homies! Your gurl has had a strong case of the blahs, and haven’t felt like putting together any posts. Depression can be a real bitch sometimes. But, I definitely plan on returning to my lovely blog in the next two weeks. Look forward to Current Reads, Writing Playlists, and all the other cool content that I love sharing with you, my homies. I’ve missed y’all! See ya soon, homies!
Hey, homies! Hope everyone is having a blessed July. Y’all, I’m having one of the worst reading slumps in history! This slump is even worse than the one from 2016- which really fucking sucked, trust me. Lol. So for the month of July there won’t be any Current Reads, (or a Finished Reads) posts. I don’t even have the enthusiasm to put those together… and if I’m not feeling it, you guys will be able to tell. But, don’t worry because all my book related posts will start back up in August. 🙂

Hey, homies! I’m hella excited to share my Writing Playlist for the week. I have a feeling that my pen will be moving, and my fingers are going to hit the laptop keys in a frantic pace. Especially because last week was such an epic fail for a sista. Let me explain…
There were plenty of ongoing projects that I wanted to work on. Unfortunately, a few health issues had me in a hardcore stronghold for about a week. Mix in a tablespoon of depression, with a massive helping of anxiety, and you have yourself a recipe for not getting anything done. But, I’m determined to crush all my writing goals this week.
I have another eclectic playlist to share- hecks, all of my playlists are often unique, so. You will notice that there are a few songs by BTS. I’m obsessed with them and their music has been my Prozac. 🙂 Anyhoo, I’ve included a pic of the night sky for this post. The pic is a reminder that stars shine in the darkness, so I’m just going to shine on.

Side Note- For some reason I haven’t been able to edit or adjust the pictures in my posts. Please excuse the placement of the pics. I swear that shit is making me anxious. Lol.
Hey, homies! Once again it’s Current Reads time! I’m not even going to lie… June hasn’t been the best reading month for a sista. I had to DNF a book yesterday, and there have been a few just okay reads to deal with. I’ll share more about these books in my Finished Reads: June Wrap-Up. For now though, let’s get into these new reads.
Forever Interrupted by Taylor Jenkins Reid- I started this book a few days ago. Ms. Jenkins Reid is the author of one of my fav novels, and it was my best read of 2018 (The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo), so I decided to get into more of her work. Forever Interrupted is interesting in the fact that a bomb was dropped in the very beginning of the book. I mean this event was even mentioned in the synopsis. Elise Porter meets- and eventually marries, the love of her life only to lose him nine days later (again, not a spoiler because this tidbit was in the synopsis). The novel is about Elise and how she copes with loss, but we also get to see her love story with Ben unfold through flashback chapters.
I Almost Forgot About You by Terry McMillan- Ms. McMillan is an iconic author, and I worship at her altar! Seriously though, she is who I look to for help when it comes to my writing. I also adore the hell out of her work. She’s everything!
“In I Almost Forgot About You, Dr. Georgia Young’s wonderful life–great friends, family, and successful career–aren’t enough to keep her from feeling stuck and restless. When she decides to make some major changes in her life, including quitting her job as an optometrist and moving house, she finds herself on a wild journey that may or may not include a second chance at love. Georgia’s bravery reminds us that it’s never too late to become the person you want to be, and that taking chances, with your life and your heart, are always worthwhile.”
I hope that this novel really inspires me, as well as keeping me entertained. 🙂
That’s it! Thanks so much for checking out my post! Feel free to share what you guys are reading in the comments below. Happy Reading, homies!

Hi, homies! Hope everyone is having a blessed and lovely day, or evening. I have three books to share with you that I’m currently reading. So, let’s get this bookish party started, y’all!
La Douleur Exquise by J.R. Rogue- I’ve lost count on my inventory of Ms. Rogue’s work. Here’s the description for La Douleur Exquise. “What happens when you meet your soul mate at the wrong time? What happens when you meet your soul mate but you aren’t theirs?”
I already know that this collection will straight up slay me!
El Pecador (Saint-Sinner #2) by M. Robinson- This is the second of the Saint-Sinner duet. The first book- El Santo, ended on a cliffhanger that left me swearing like a sailor. I. Was. Shook. I’m hoping that all my questions will be answered in El Pecador.
Bone Music (Burning Girl #1) by Christopher Rice- I watched a review of this book on BookTube. And of course I was forced to buy Bone Music based on the awesome review. The novel is about a woman who spent the first seven years of her life raised by serial killers- a twisted couple from hell I’m guessing.
Thanks for checking out my post. What are you currently reading? I would love to know!

Hey, homies! In this wrap-up style post, I’ll be talking about all the books I read in May. Each book gets a star rating between 1 star (the books sucked), and 5 stars (masterpiece status). May was one of my better reading months, and I’m especially thankful. There will possibly be a spoiler or two, so be prepared. Let’s get started.
Dearest Ivie by J.R. Ward- A novella set in the world of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, this was an incredibly beautiful read. My world was hardcore rocked! I greedily consumed each word. Ivie and Silas’ love was everything. I adored the way Ivie fought for her man- spoiler alert, even after she learned of his illness. My only complaint was that the novella wasn’t like a thousand pages long. 🙂 5 Stars
Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur- There’s a reason why this poetry collection is so celebrated. I didn’t just read Milk and Honey, I allowed the words to be absorbed by my soul. The collection featured themes of love, loss, and healing. There wasn’t a weak line in the bunch. 5 Stars
Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter- A proper introduction to the fictional world of Ms. Slaughter, Pretty Girls was the kind of novel that leaves readers exhausted- in the most amazing way. Bombs were dropped from the start, and I was here for all the carnage they left behind. 5 Stars
Human Remains by Elizabeth Haynes- Human Remains is a psychological thriller that deals with the question “How well do you know your neighbors?” The antagonist was a sociopath with charm, and wit oozing out of his pores and onto the pages. The best part of the story were the point of view chapters of the victims. I thought that was an original concept that added a lot of depth. Some parts of the novel were slow, but I still enjoyed it. 3.5 Stars
It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover- This book had me bound, and I didn’t want to do anything else but continue reading. Domestic violence isn’t the easiest subject to write about, but Ms. Hoover did a stellar job. 4.5 Stars
D-City Underworld: Zontae’s Reign by Annitia L. Jackson- Ms. Jackson wrote the hell out of this book! I loved the world building and the characters who inhabited it. I was really into this from the first page. Who knew that Urban and Paranormal fiction went so well together?! 4 Stars
Love, In English by Karina Halle- This book was hotter than an average Summer day in Texas. Angst and desire colored the narrative gorgeously, and I was totally here for it! The love and connection between Vera, and Mateo was magnetic. 5 Stars
Anchors & Vacancies by Kat Savage- Once again I was blown away by another dope collection of poetry. I devoured and loved each and every line. 5 Stars
El Santo by M. Robinson- This romance was unconventional and totally inappropriate, but honey I still managed to love it! I have to admit that I was a bit bored in the beginning, but the story turned around, becoming really enjoyable. Damien is my new book boo! 4 Stars
Hope you enjoyed this post!

Hi, homies! I have to admit that I’m a bit behind writing wise. In addition to working on my main novel, there’s a short story that I wanted to have completed by now. Unfortunately, real life decided to step in and stop all the fun in my imaginary world. Lol. But a sista is determined to make up for lost time. I thought this playlist would be perfect for a little nighttime writing. Normally, I write in the mornings, but a sista may need to have a few optional overtime sessions. Anyhoo, here’s my hard rock and metal themed playlist.
1. You Lied- Peach
2. Dystopia- TesseracT
3. Can’t Lose You- Type O Negative
4. Oblivion- Mastodon
5. At Dawn- Oceans of Slumber
6. Patience- Skyharbor
7. Severed- Mudvayne
8. Sugar- System Of A Down
9. The One You Know- Alice In Chains
10. Pisces- Jinjer
11. Medicated- Sevendust
12. Black Bubblegum- The Dillinger Escape Plan
13. Delicious- A Perfect Circle
14. Down In It- Nine Inch Nails
15. Isolation- Alter Bridge
16. Never Know- Witch Mountain
17. Spellbound- Lacuna Coil
18. Cold Front- Straight Line Stich
19. Minerva- Deftones
20. Spoonman- Soundgarden

Hey, homies! So thankful to be able to share with you my Current Reads. May has been a boss reading month so far. Hopefully the trend will continue. I have one novel, and one poetry collection to share with you. Let’s get started.
Love, in English by Karina Halle- I haven’t ready anything by Ms. Halle in awhile, so I had right that wrong. Lol. I love her work. She’s a bossome writer. I’ve never been disappointed by any of her novels. Here’s the synopsis for Love, in English.
“To a restless dreamer like Vera Miles, it sounded like the experience of a lifetime. Instead of spending her summer interning for her astronomy major, she would fly to Spain where she’d spend a few weeks teaching conversational English to businessmen and women, all while enjoying free room and board at an isolated resort. But while Vera expected to get a tan, meet new people and stuff herself with wine and paella, she never expected to fall in love.”
Yass for that unexpected kind of love! 🙂
Anchors & Vacancies by Kat Savage- I enjoyed the poetry collection by Ms. Savage that I read awhile back, and decided to pick this one up. My goal is to own all of her collections because she’s fucking dope. Seriously.
Thanks for checking out my post! See ya next time!
